THE CONERO RIVIERA
A green mountain in a blue sea
On the area of the Marches coastline between Portonovo and Numana there is a corner of the Adriatic that boasts a completely untouched marine environment , of pebble beaches and hidden bays, where the green cliffs plunge dramatically into the deep blue sea. This beautiful stretch of coastline is the Conero Riviera, just South of Ancona. It is at this point on the coast that the Conero Mountain (572 m.) descends rapidly into the sea creating one of the most rugged and breathtaking landscapes on the Adriatic. This natural oasis of peace became a Regional Park in 1987. It is a protected area, populated by rare bird species and with countryside paths that wind through pine trees, strawberry trees and larch trees.
